Shadé Zahrai Official op Instagram : "When I finally learned about this, it changed the game for me in conversations, meetings and whenever presenting… The American anthropologist, Ray Birdwhistell, was a trailblazer in the study of non-verbal behavior. He named this critical form of communication ‘kinesics’ and paved the way for us to understand how our physical gestures and body language can change the meaning of our words. Here are three core principles that body language experts agree on: 1️⃣ Open Up! Stop crossing your arms or making fists, as this can send a message of defiance (even if unintended). Instead, open up your posture and let your body communicate trust and approachability. 2️⃣ The Magic of the Open Palm. The open palm is a universal gesture of asking and inviting, unlike pointing, which can be confrontational. Use the open palm in conversations and presentations to show that you can be trusted. 3️⃣Match Your Words with Your Gestures. This is a great tip if you’re wanting greater presence when you speak, or to make a strong point where your message is understood: Make sure your gestures match your words. This is critical for clear communication, and works especially well when presenting, whether virtually or in person. You can vary the size of your gestures to the size of your audience… smaller gestures are more appropriate for smaller audiences, and larger more expansive gestures ideal for large audiences. A great tip is to record yourself speaking or presenting. When you watch it back, pay attention to your body language and gestures. Are they enhancing your message, or detracting from it?
